About the Project
The Browning Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Browning name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Browning name.
As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Browning's), by time period (18th Century Browning's), or by topic (Browning DNA, Browning Occupations, Browning Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Many of the trees I've seen have James Browning and Susannah Hickman Browning as his parents; however, not one of these trees has any proof. He and his son Caleb Browning are often referred to as "Joseph Caleb Browning", again, with no proof. I've been searching for his parents and any information on him and his family for years. There is so much misinformation out there and I'm determined to clear it up.
Caleb and many of my ancestors are buried in the Browning Cemetery in Lafayette County, Mississippi, just a few miles from where my dad was born and raised, Taylor, MS. My line is from Caleb to his son Caleb, his son Albert Palmer Browning, his son Thomas Edgar Browning, his son Emmett Houston Browning, to my dad, Durwood Houston Browning, all buried in the Browning Cemetery. I live in Collierville, TN, which is about an hour and a half drive to the cemetery. I've got lots of pictures from the cemetery and would be happy to share with anyone who is interested.
